This event is an evening of discussion and exploration; exploring the themes present in Stuart Taylor’s first book – ‘Ancient African Futures: Systemic Constellations a Decolonial Poetics’, published by Palgrave Macmillan in Autumn 2025.

Stuart will be covering topics including how historical European colonialism has morphed into contemporary neocolonialism and continues to have an asymmetrical impact on all our understandings of cultural value, psychological wellbeing and valuing knowledge formation.

Stuart’s work emphasises the importance and significance of diverse communities appreciating and embracing the power and value of their cultural heritage in the face of racist cultural tropes. Stuart's work resonates strongly with The UnMuseum's commitment to challenging dominant narratives, valuing diverse forms of knowledge, and recognising cultural heritage as a source of understanding, agency, and possibility. As the person who originally coined the term 'The UnMuseum', his return for this conversation represents something of a full-circle moment, bringing together ideas that helped shape the project's foundations.
